The Seven Virtues – Hedoine

The Seven Virtues

There is no yin without the yang. In the face of vice there must be virtue, and so we have a list of seven heavenly principles of morality. But while behaviors such as these do have some merit, they are not always the best option.

PRUDENCE

WHEN IT’S RIGHT: On job interviews

WHEN IT’S WRONG: On dates, at parties or during sex

TEMPERANCE

WHEN IT’S RIGHT: In church and when visiting in-laws

WHEN IT’S WRONG: At Christmas parties or whilst writing about hedonism

HOPE

WHEN IT’S RIGHT: In Las Vegas and at luggage carousels

WHEN IT’S WRONG: When trying to pay down credit cards

FAITH

WHEN IT’S RIGHT: At the altar

WHEN IT’S WRONG: In the stock market.

FORTITUDE

WHEN IT’S RIGHT: At times of great loss, grief and disappointment

WHEN IT’S WRONG: When being sacked, dumped or cut off

CHARITY

WHEN IT’S RIGHT: When cleaning out the closet and donating garments

WHEN IT’S WRONG: Sporting events or beauty pageants

JUSTICE

WHEN IT’S RIGHT: In court

WHEN IT’S WRONG: When playing board games
